The Cause

In Oregon and across the nation, freshwater ecosystems are steadily degrading, and this decline threatens the long-term prosperity of our communities. While science clearly shows that freshwater restoration is a critical tool for stream improvement, the long-term success of these efforts depends on having educated and aware citizens – both the broader public and youth – that understand the importance of freshwater health. This heightened awareness and education is a critical “insurance policy” for maintaining the health of restored rivers and streams far into the future. Proceeds from Run for the River will go to support the education efforts of The Freshwater Trust.

About The Freshwater Trust

The Freshwater Trust works to improve freshwater health throughout Oregon, forwarding cooperative, action-oriented solutions to protect and restore our freshwater ecosystems. Every year we plant thousands of trees, restore dozens of river miles, keep billions of gallons of water flowing in Oregon streams and facilitate tens of thousands of students in learning about our freshwater resources.
